H.M. PRISON WINDMILL HILL OPEN DAY

The Gibraltar Government will be holding two open days on Thursday 8 July 2010 and Friday 9 July 2010 to allow members of the general public an opportunity to view the new facilities at H.M Prison Windmill Hill, 18 Windmill Hill Road.

Visitors will be shown around by a prison service representative in groups of 16 between 09.00hrs and 15.30hrs on weekdays. Visits on both days will commence at the following times: 0900, 0945, 1030, 1115, 1200, 1400, 1445 and 1530 hrs.

Visitors are informed that security procedures will be in operation. ID will be needed to gain access to the Prison precinct. It is also given for information that smoking will not be allowed for the duration of the visit.

A Government Spokesman said:-

"The new prison represents a significant investment by Gibraltar in a modern prison, bringing Gibraltar into the 21st Century in this respect. Members of the public may wish to see this excellent new facilty before it becomes operational".
