On the afternoon of Monday 22nd September 2008, at the bottom of Willis's Road junction with Castle Road, RGP Drug Squad officers intercepted motorcar G 3187A, driven by Shaun Sene (born on 10.04.85 in Gibraltar employed as a delivery driver with Gibraltar Laundry Services) of 4, Tarik House, Moorish Castle Estate, as it was suspected that he was in possession of a large amount of Cannabis Resin. Sene tried to escape from the officers intercepting him and drove off at a fast speed As he did he dragged an officer for a few metres and drove over the foot of another officer. He continued at a fast speed towards Castle Road where he rammed his car against another officer who was blocking the road in an unmarked motorcycle. Sene was then apprehended and arrested. On searching his car a plastic carrier bag was seized from the front passenger foot well which was found to contain four large Cannabis Resin blocks covered with bitumen with a total approximate weight of 2 kilos.

He was conveyed to New Mole House Police Station where on being processed and searched he was found to be in possession of a further 8.5 grams of Cannabis Resin. A search warrant under the Drugs (Misuse) Act was executed at his residence and nothing incriminating was found.

Later on he was charged as follows:

1. Possession of a controlled drug, namely Cannabis Resin weighing approximately 2 kilograms.
2. Possession with intent to supply another or others, namely Cannabis Resin weighing approximately 2 kilograms.
3. Obstructing Police under the Drugs (Misuse) Act.
4. Dangerous driving.
He was kept overnight in Police custody until his court appearance at the Magistrates’ Court the following day.

The officers attended A&E Department at St. Bernard’s Hospital where they were treated for abrasions, bruising and friction burns.

Street value of drugs seized amounted to approximately £5,000.00.

On Tuesday 1st September 2009, at the Supreme Court Sene pleaded ‘Guilty’ to the possession and possession with intent to supply charges and was kept in remand at HM Prison. The dangerous driving case was adjourned for hearing on Tuesday 22nd June 2010. On Tuesday 22nd June 2010, at the Supreme Court, he pleaded also pleaded guilty to the dangerous driving charge. The obstructing Police charge was withdrawn. On Friday 25th June 2010, at the Supreme Court, he was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for the intent to supply charge with no separate penalty for the possession charge and 5 months imprisonment and 3 years disqualified from driving for the dangerous driving charge. All prison terms to run consecutive.
