Health Cards.
From feedback it would appear that the problems encountered with the renewal of the Gibraltar Health Authority health cards (E111) have been resolved and that the exercise is progressing satisfactorily.

By now the correct renewal forms should have been received by post, but should any senior citizen not have received these, please inquire at the Health Centre where one will be provided.

We would inform those who may not be aware that on receipt of these forms, application for renewal can be made forthwith irrespective of the health card expiry date.

Our sincere thanks to all at the Gibraltar Health Authority and Primary Care Centre for the promptness with which our request was acted upon.

Free bus travel for over 60's.
The association's committee is delighted at the outcome of the talks and ensuing correspondence with the Minister for Transport, the Hon J. Holliday.

The association's point of view was that in any equalization exercise, so that there would not be any discrimination due to gender, the benefit should be given to men bringing down their entitlement age from 65 to 60 instead of raising that of women from 60 to 65.

What the association was aiming for and interested in, was that both men and women would pay concessionary bus fares on routes 2, 3, 4 and 5 on reaching the age of 60 and not the other way round and have to wait till the reaching the age of 65.

We are naturally delighted that Government should not only have agreed and taken our argument for equalization on board, but additionally and most importantly that Government added that special bonus whereby both men and women should travel free at age 60.

And on something similar but very different, we wish to thank both The Calypso Transport Company and the Gibraltar Bus Company for having provided a FREE connecting service for senior citizens who traveled with us to Benidorm on 14th June. This service provided a quick, efficient and stress free transfer for which we are all very thankful.

And on the subject of the excursion to Benidorm, we are more than delighted to have received so many favourable comments and kind remarks from the excursionists themselves which more than proves that a good time was had by all.

It is more than likely that we shall try to organise some other trip in the not too distant future as we have been encouraged and asked by practically all who came to Benidorm to do so.

Our very special thanks to all the passengers on the bus for their punctuality and overall friendly disposition which made our job so easy.
