GIBRALTAR TO HOST EUROPEAN SHOW DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011

Last week the Gibraltar National Dance Organisation organised a press conference to officially announce the hosting of the European Show Dance Championship in 2011 in Gibraltar.

This will be in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of both the G.N.D.O. and its world Governing body the I.D.O. ( International Dance Organisation).

The Championships, which will be held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall over three days, have the full backing of the Gibraltar Government.

Michael Prescott has put together a special team to organise the event. This will be led by Gerald Rodriguez and James Neish.

Local dancers will be given an opportunity to compete, for the very first time, on home soil. A National Championship to select representatives will be held in early 2011 at a date yet to be confirmed.

A spokesman for the GNDO added: “We are sure local dance groups will be supporting us in this venture so that we can once again show the world the high calibre of dance which exists locally”.

In conjunction with the event the website www.eurodanceshow2011.com was also unveiled.
