7 Days Gibraltar Gibraltar Flag
4th September 2010

The Gibraltar Photographic Society will be holding its Annual Competitive Exhibition from Monday 7th June to Friday 25th June 2010. The official opening of the Exhibition will be at 7.00 pm on Monday 7th June, and the opening will be carried out by the His Excellency the Governor, Sir Adrian Johns. Sir Adrian will also be presenting the trophies to the winners from the different sections.

The Exhibition is divided into three sections: Section A consists of monochrome prints; Section B is dedicated to work by beginners; Section C consists of colour prints. In all three sections prints are entered as individual prints or as sets of three. This year there has been a very good response from members in all three sections, and the standard of the work exhibited augurs well for the future of the Society, and of creative Photography in Gibraltar.

The Adjudicator this year is Trevor Gellard FRPS, from the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain. This is his first visit to Gibraltar and he will be judging the entries during the course of Friday 4th June. During the evening of Friday 4th, he will be delivering an illustrated talk on his work at the Society's premises at Wellington Front. The talk will start at 8.00 pm and is entitled "Brighton and beyond". This talk is open to the general public and all are welcome to attend. On the evening of Tuesday 8th June, at 8.00 pm, he will be giving a critical appraisal of the exhibition itself at the John Mackintosh Hall. Once again members of the public are very welcome to attend.

Trevor Gellard FRPS

Trevor is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and a Deputy Chairman on the Licentiateship distinction panel. An exhibitor at international exhibitions, he was recently awarded a London Salon medal and a gold medal from the Southampton International Print Exhibition.

He lectures on photography and shows his work to camera clubs throughout England. He has had several one man exhibitions and is a senior judge, involved mostly with club competitions.

His main interest is street photography. Inspired by Cartier and the street photographers of the 1930s to the 1970s, he has a strong interest in black and white candid photography. His Fellowship panel consisted of the events and people between the Palace and West Pier in Brighton. He also has an interest in circus photography in available light, which can be quite a challenge. Recently retired, he owned an Art Gallery in Brighton and as well as in photography, he has had some success as an artist.
