MISS GIBRALTAR 2009 WINS BEACH WEAR FINAL
Miss Gibraltar 2009, Kaiane Aldorino, has won the 'Beach Beauty' round of the Miss World Pageant which took place earlier today in Durban. Second place was awarded to Miss Panama, with third place going to Miss Scotland, fourth place to Miss France and fifth place to Miss Bolivia.

Kaiane was personally congratulated during the presentation of the "Beach Beauty" Trophy by the South African First Lady, Nompumelelo Ntuli Zuma. As winner of this section of the Miss World 2009 Pageant, Miss Gibraltar has automatically gained a place in the final 20 contestants of the Miss World Pageant to be held on 12th December 2009 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This is the first time that a Miss Gibraltar has reached the final 20 stage of a Miss World Pageant.

The Minister for Culture, the Hon Edwin Reyes, spoke to Miss Gibraltar over the telephone late this afternoon and, on behalf of everyone in Gibraltar, congratulated her on such a wonderful achievement. He also reassured her of the huge support she has from everyone back home.

Miss Gibraltar 2009, Kaiane Aldorino, has participated and succeeded in reaching the finals of both the "Sports" and "Talent" rounds at the Miss World Pageant. The Sports round was held at the stunning Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth. Miss Gibraltar was part of the winning team named "The African King Penguins". Additionally, out of 120 contestants, Kaiane made it to the "Top 10" in the Individual Sports round. She took part in a series of tasks testing her all-round sporting abilities which included sprinting, an assault course and a thrilling penalty shoot-out held at next year's World Cup Final venue.

Miss Gibraltar also went through to the "Top 10" in the Talent section. The finals took place at the Victory Theatre in Johannesburg where she performed her prepared dance routine called 'Mirza', which was choreographed by Yalta Pons from Urban Dance.

NEW WEBSITE FOR MISS GIBRALTAR
The Ministry of Culture is pleased to announce the launch of a newly revamped website for the Miss Gibraltar pageant.

The new website features photographs from the Miss Gibraltar 2009 Show, the current Miss World Finals photoshoot and various functions attended by Miss Gibraltar 2009, Kaiane Aldorino. Additionally, the website includes a past winners page and a special "did you know" page with anecdotes on the history of the pageant.
