
The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the signing of the Armistice to signal the end of World War One "the War to end all Wars", on the 11th November 1918. This Anniversary serves to remember all those who have died in wars since WW1. This includes WW2, the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and conflicts in Bosnia, Rwanda and Kosovo.
A short ceremony took place at the Lobby of Parliament House, where memorials are found commemorating the names of those Gibraltarians who lost their lives in the Wars.
H.W. the Mayor, Mrs Olga Zammitt JP, lead the ceremony and Guards of Honour were provided by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, the Royal British Legion Gibraltar Branch and by local War Veterans.
This same week Remembrance Sunday Ceremony took place at the British War Memorial.
His Excellency the Governor, in his capacity as representative of the Queen of Gibraltar, lead the service. After the bidding was read two Minutes silence, was observed, then the Last Post was sounded, after which wreaths were laid, and an inter-denominational service was held.
