Her Majesty The Queen has approved that Sunday 8th November will be
observed as Remembrance Sunday. This year, due to roadworks in the area
of the Cross of Sacrifice, the Gibraltar Ceremony of Remembrance will be
held at the British War Memorial on Line Wall Road, opposite City Hall, at
noon.
The Ceremony is organised by the Government. His Excellency the Governor,
in his capacity as representative of the Queen of Gibraltar, will lead the
service. On his arrival he will read the Bidding. This will be followed by the
observance of the Two Minutes silence, the beginning and end of which will
be signalled by a saluting gun. The Last Post will be sounded, after which
wreaths will be laid, and an inter-denominational service will be held. The
Ceremony will conclude with the sounding of Reveille and the singing of the
National Anthem.
Medals and decorations may be worn with civilian dress by all those entitled
to do so. Relatives of deceased servicemen and servicewomen may also
wear their decorations.
Persons or Organisations, who have pre-ordered the official wreaths from Mr
Solomon Levy MBE JP, may collect them from No 6 Convent Place on
Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th November from 10:00am until
noon, on payment of £25.00. Cheques should be made payable to The
Gibraltar Poppy Day Appeal Fund.
